My Musings:

Okay so when I was cruising on netgalley the summary for this book sold me instantly! The whole music aspect of it seemed so different and new and I was genuinely excited to read this. But right now i'm sitting in front of my computer screen trying to get all my feelings and thoughts in order. I'm really disappointed with this book.

I never connected with any of the characters except for Milan. I did like Milan though. I liked the way she thought and described things. I would definitely love to be friends with Milan! Otherwise characterization was poorly done or at least poorly executed. Frenchy, Sierra, even Cara couldn't get a reaction out of me. I liked Noel kind of. Merek was just no. I was over him the second his name came up. I hated his character and i honestly couldn't wait for Milan to throw him to the curb. Maybe i'm the only one, but Merek was pretty creepy and clingy and just no. Noel was kind of ghost for part of the book and the scenes he was in let me down. Overall most of the characters were underdeveloped.

This was a little more character driven than plot driven. Which served the book well I think. I guess because I wasn't really connected to the characters I wasn't really invested in all the drama. The beginning felt kind of Gossip Girl-y? Am i the only one who thinks that? There's a lot of pomp and circumstance because of the fact that Milan is of a high class. So there are brunches and parties and rolls royce's etc. I liked this rather gossip girl aspect of the book. What I didn't like was how fast things escalated I felt like a lot of scenes, particularly the more powerful scenes were no developed right. They felt rushed and as a result, cheesy. Also I got really annoyed with how the flashbacks appeared. There wasn't any separation or indication to tell you it was a flashback. If you're not reading carefully you could easily get confused,

The romance aspect wasn't my favorite. Merek is my least favorite. He was creepy, and clingy, and needy and really pushy! Ughh I don't like him at all. I don't care how cute you are if you call and and text me excessively then get in my face about it, well it's not going to slide.Noel was better I guess. He had that Dark and Brooding thing going on, which of course I love. So clearly I'm more of a Milan and Noel Shipper.

Overall I was really let down with this book. It was cheesy and while it had potential, it lacked depth. Milan was a mature character and I really liked her. While the romance wasn't my cup of tea I did sort of like Noel.

Coffee Time: Cafe Mocha! You'll need espresso to deal with some of the cheesier scenes and chocolate because well it's chocolate! Plus you never know when you might need a little pick me up.
